Mission Statement
The Mission of the Northville Parks &
Recreation Department is to provide opportunities for the community
to enjoy recreational activities using existing resources and to
plan strategically for future needs.. |
Northville Parks & Recreation is a shared service of the City of
Northville and the Charter Township of Northville and is overseen by an
advisory commission made up of residents of the city and township with a
representative of the Northville Board of Education. Full-time staff
members include a director, recreation superintendent, recreation
supervisor, aquatics director, parks superintendent, and parks
supervisor, as well, as two full-time clerks and additional part-time
staff members. The Northville Senior Adult Services Program is also a
function of Northville Parks & Recreation. Staffing there includes a
full-time coordinator and program supervisor, along with several
part-time support staff members.
The Parks & Recreation Department operates two indoor facilities:
- Recreation Center at Hillside, located at 700 W. Baseline, with:
- An L-shaped indoor swimming pool with lap lanes, able to
accommodate up to 125 people
- Two full-sized gymnasiums
- Numerous multi-purpose meeting/classrooms
- Fitness rooms
- The Community Senior Center, located at 303 W. Main Street,
offering:
- Beautiful banquet room and kitchen
- Cozy living room with fire place
- Numerous multi-purpose meeting rooms
- Gymnasium with bleachers
The Department operates five community park facilities (with plans to
develop Thayer Corners Park):
- Ford Field
- Fish Hatchery Park
- Henningsen Park
- Northville Community Park
- Millennium Park
Among the many services offered by Northville Parks and recreation
are:
- Youth classes, activities, and athletics including baseball,
basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball
- Adult classes, activities, and athletics including badminton,
basketball, softball, table tennis, volleyball (watch for pickle ball)
- Senior adult classes, activities, and athletics
- Complete aquatics program including both group and private
lessons, water aerobics and open swim
- Special programs such as Northville Nite and Used Sports Equipment
